THE RAMBLINGS OF A 21 YEAR OLD IRISH GIRL CALLED MOLLIE... I HATE APPLE PIE.
JUST B-E-E YOURSELF...

IRISH. TEA. CHOCOLATE. BOOKS. MUSIC. PARTYING. ART. MY VIOLIN.

I set this up this blog mainly to have a place to ramble and muse. So, have a look around, follow me if you want, I mostly follow back! And I promise to keep you in the loop with my, ahem, interesting life.

If you want to know more, feel free to ask away! Or check out my 'About Me' page.

Oh, and above is a picture of me. Just incase you thought I was an old tea-drinking woman who sits at home with a dozen cats. I’m swear I’m not. Yet.

To those who think Irish people ain’t got rhythm…I give you…JOHN JOE KELLY (from Flook) And to those who think the bodhran is an easy instrument to play well, take a listen to John and I’m sure he’ll change your mind.

Skip to 2.40 for the bodhran solo! And just be amazed at the intricate rhythm and pitch patterns. Who said we need computerised drum machines? This man is better than any computerised drum machine, amazing stuff!!

He is unbelievable. Sorry for poor video/sound quality, you can still appreciate his amazing talent though! :)

Arty McGlynn, Nollaig Casey & Christy Moore

Tune: Cottage in the Grove.

Incase anyone is wondering this is a very traditional Irish sound- if you came to Ireland and sat in on a trad session in a pub it would sound something like this. The choice of tunes and tonality are both very traditionally Irish. One of my fav tracks out there :) Take a listen, enjoy!

YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO THIS IF YOU LOVE IRISH MUSIC!! Brian finnegan & his band. It’s amazing. (Plus you get to here Brian talking at the start with his lovely Northern Irish accent) First tune is called Road to Errogie and at around 5.50 John Joe Kelly (the GOD of bodhran playing) does the most mind blowing solo! Have a listen, it will blow your mind!!
