9 YEAR OLD Mairead Hicky from Cork, Ireland playing Irish fiddle. She’s so talented for 9 years old it literally makes me want to cry. It’s unbelievable every time. Wait until at least 1.31 because your mind will be blown.
To those who think Irish people ain’t got rhythm…I give you…JOHN JOE KELLY (from Flook) And to those who think the bodhran is an easy instrument to play well, take a listen to John and I’m sure he’ll change your mind.
Skip to 2.40 for the bodhran solo! And just be amazed at the intricate rhythm and pitch patterns. Who said we need computerised drum machines? This man is better than any computerised drum machine, amazing stuff!!

Incase anyone is wondering this is a very traditional Irish sound- if you came to Ireland and sat in on a trad session in a pub it would sound something like this. The choice of tunes and tonality are both very traditionally Irish. One of my fav tracks out there :) Take a listen, enjoy!

Dear, Irish dancers on tumblr…..YOU ALL NEED TO WATCH THIS RIGHT NOW!!! I promise it will be the most amazing Irish dancing you’ll ever see. The two guys are world champion dancers and have formed a group called TapTronic, please, please watch and share! I’m so proud to be Irish! It’s so fantastic to see two guys doing something they love and are obviously passionate about. It’s so inspiring and innovative!!

I’m so happy that the Irish dancing video I posted got so many notes and it’s great to see there’s so much love and respect for Irish dancing on tumblr-long may it carry on! I hope those of you that aren’t Irish dancers know how hard the dancers work and how hard they push their bodies to achieve such beautiful jumps and leaps and they deserve to be credited for it- they train hard and Irish dancing should be considered a sport and the dancers athletes. And for those of you that do dance, keep working hard, you’re all amazing at what you do, I miss dancing so much and I get so much enjoyment from watching Irish dancers- the talent is amazing, the difficulty of the steps is incomprehensible and most of all it’s inspiring! :)
