The Bothy Band.
If you don’t know who these guys are I’m going to assume you’ve been living under a rock for your whole life!
Sit back and enjoy some good Irish music! :)
Music speaks where words fail…
Too much practice is never enough…

The Irish rock band The Coronas are amazing! If you like rock/indie/alternative music take a listen you might like these guys :)
The Delorentos- ‘S.E.C.R.E.T’
The Delorentos are a Dublin-based alternative rock band. If you like good music, take a listen to this catchy little number, these guys are amazing!
Have a listen, I promise you wont regret it :)
To those who think Irish people ain’t got rhythm…I give you…JOHN JOE KELLY (from Flook) And to those who think the bodhran is an easy instrument to play well, take a listen to John and I’m sure he’ll change your mind.
Skip to 2.40 for the bodhran solo! And just be amazed at the intricate rhythm and pitch patterns. Who said we need computerised drum machines? This man is better than any computerised drum machine, amazing stuff!!
He is unbelievable. Sorry for poor video/sound quality, you can still appreciate his amazing talent though! :)
Kevin Burke playing ‘Toss the Feathers’ he was and still is one of the most influential fiddle players Ireland has ever had.
Death of Music?

Since living in California, I’ve observed that most (not all) of the people I meet ONLY listen to American current pop/r’n’b/rap artists or just whatever happens to be in the charts and/or on Glee/other popular t.v shows -particuarily the younger generations. I could not beleive that the trending tweet after the Grammys was “Who’s Paul McCartney?” and “Who’s Bon Iver” SERIOUSLY?!!!!! There’s a big, wide world out there full of wonderful, interesting, captivating music. Please don’t JUST listen to what the big record companies want you to listen to. Music nowadays has become a business- there’s people in the charts that can’t sing, don’t write their own music, don’t produce their own music, have no love/passion for music but jump on the band wagon of becoming a singer because their famous and can afford to do so (Seriously, Paris Hilton and Jordan released songs…yeah that’s right an abomination to music I hear you cry! ) So these rich celebs get to churn out utter crap that someone else has written for them, a computer has practically sung for them (auto-tune anyone?) the consumer is bombarded with it and the celeb laughs all the way to the bank, meanwhile the music industry’s soul is being chipped away at!
I’d love to see the music industry become more serious; by ditching these horrendous singing shows, stop glamourising people who can’t/shouldn’t sing, stop making music about image (E.g: The US media telling Adele to lose weight…Sorry, I didn’t realise her weight made a difference to her AMAZING vocal abilities)
The power of music lies in its ability to emote, provoke and ultimately bring people together it’s not a tool for the wealthy to control what we listen to and who should/can produce music. Rage against the machine people!!! Go out there and explore- stray away from the iTunes top 10, MTVs top 50 songs now and again- you never know what treasures you might find. Support the musicians who are trying to make an honest living out of what they love.
Music is an exploration, a discovery- so go venture out on your own and listen to good music, listen to bad music, listen to old music, listen to new music, listen to Indian, African, Irish, Spanish, French, Italian music, listen to rock, listen to heavy metal, listen to classical—-listen to whatever YOU want; not what THEY, or anyone else, tells you should be listening to. Music IS life and without it, life would be pretty damn boring.
Well what do you all think? Do you agree/disagree? Let me know your thoughts :)
A life without music would be a mistake.
“The earth has music for those who listen.”
- William Shakespeare.
