THE RAMBLINGS OF A 21 YEAR OLD IRISH GIRL CALLED MOLLIE... I HATE APPLE PIE.
JUST B-E-E YOURSELF...

IRISH. TEA. CHOCOLATE. BOOKS. MUSIC. PARTYING. ART. MY VIOLIN.

I set this up this blog mainly to have a place to ramble and muse. So, have a look around, follow me if you want, I mostly follow back! And I promise to keep you in the loop with my, ahem, interesting life.

If you want to know more, feel free to ask away! Or check out my 'About Me' page.

Oh, and above is a picture of me. Just incase you thought I was an old tea-drinking woman who sits at home with a dozen cats. I’m swear I’m not. Yet.

YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO THIS IF YOU LOVE IRISH MUSIC!! Brian finnegan & his band. It’s amazing. (Plus you get to here Brian talking at the start with his lovely Northern Irish accent) First tune is called Road to Errogie and at around 5.50 John Joe Kelly (the GOD of bodhran playing) does the most mind blowing solo! Have a listen, it will blow your mind!!

A short clip of Brian Finnegan (my favourite whistle player) playing the Eb low whistle. This clip, I think, demonstrates how versatile an instrument the whistle is- it only has 7 notes and look how much you can do with it. People tend to think it’s an easy instrument; it’s not, to do what he does in the video requires so much control over your diaphragm to develop those breathing techniques. He’s a genius. He really makes Irish whistle playing urban and cool. :)

Lunasa….again :) They make me happy :) Have a listen!

Progression…it’s a key aspect of any music genre. While I’m a Irish traditional musician, I’m all for progression and trying new things with traditional music. The video above is one of my fav trad-fusion bands called AFRO CELT SOUND SYSTEM. They fuse modern electric dance/hip hop rhythms with Irish and West African music. If you haven’t heard of them already please give them a chance and take a listen. Any Irish dancers out there looking for some new music, looking for something different to perform to or to spice up your practice sessions, then check this out! They’re awesome <3

This makes me so happy. Please listen I promise it will put a smile on your face and get your feet tappin’! Yet more Irish traditional music for ye! Enjoy the beautiful music of our emerald isle :)  The band is another favourite of mine; Flook and the tune is ‘Road to Errogie’.

Here’s some Irish Traditional music for ye to relax to before bedtime! It’s my favourite band LUNASA. Incase ye were wondering, the tune is called ‘Black River’ and it’s played on two low whistles, with Irish flute backing and a guitar. I recommend you hastily download their whole album from i-tunes or if you prefer the illegal route head on over to youtube. Enjoy and goodnight my fellow bloggers! :)

Erin go Bragh!!

Anyone interested in Irish music? Well why not have a listen to this tin whistle and bodhran duet whilst looking at lovely pictures of Ireland’s landscape! Enjoy! :)
